  1. so far what im thinking of is a design with a plow/pickup and a dumping bedhttp://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.militaryconvoy.com/redp4.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.militaryconvoy.com/oshkoshplow1.htm&usg=__nQJGSHU5LYRwkyEkZXi5N2Hxw4M=&h=364&w=700&sz=72&hl=en&start=9&sig2=JKs8nsZhFN-0jAloJ4y2jw&itbs=1&tbnid=2A1gt3mKWMKY8M:&tbnh=73&tbnw=140&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dplow%252Bwith%252Bdumping%252Bbed%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=OmGRS4aMK9LN8QbMntSNDQ , and http://www.traderscity.com/board/userpix37/26665-excavator-wheel-loader-bulldozer-crawler-crane-track-roller-1.gif any ideas?

  2. i think it is important to include a chassis that can move well because of the icy/rocky surface, and a highly moveable robotic arm. the arm should be able to move/pick up various objects (especially rocks) in order to collect as much data as possible from Amalthea. here is a link to a good arm that could be built:

  3. i agree with chris that a plow/pickup could be very useful for collecting rock samples or pushing material out of the way so the vehicle can travel effectively. I also agree that a dump bed is important because it will be a good way to hold/store the collected samples.

  4. I think that our robot needs good treads to easily move around on the rocky surface of Amalthea. Our rover also needs a good claw to pick up the rocks and bring them back to earth.

  5. I think that Jakes idea of a good chassis that can move well on icy and or rocky surfaces is a good idea.
